workshops and seminars for students on how to harmonize materialism with

memorial in Kerala for the Kulasekhara Azhwar and Sri Pillai Lokacharya at
Kodikkulam, supporting patasalas for Vedas and Divyaprabhadams, conducting yatras
to all holy places throughout the country and financial assistance to deserving
students in the lower strata for the higher education are some of his ennobling
efforts for the betterment of society.
ThiruKurungudi is a village in Tirunelveli district and it has Vishnu temple which
is one amoung the 108 Divya desams. This sthalam is also called as "Vaamana
Kshetram". Inspite of taking the thinvikraman ulagalandha perumal kolam, Vaamanar
is giving his seva as a short muni here. Hence, it is called as "Kurungudi".
The Moolavar, Nindra Nambi, is in standing posture facing east. In between the
Nindra Nambi and Kidantha Nambi sannadhis there are sannadhis for Lord Siva and
Bhairava. The Iruntha Nambi Perumal is known as Vaikuntanaatha. There is a sannadhi
for Sri Manavaala Maamuni. Near Tirupaakadal kulam, there is a sannadhi for
Tirupaarkadal Nambi. On a hill nearby there is a sanndhi for Malaimel Nambi.
Kaisika Natakam is performed here every year on Kaisika Ekaadasi.
When Lord Siva got his Brahmahathi Dosha by plucking the head of Brahma, he came
here and as advised by the Nindra Nambi, He got Amudham from Kurungudi Vali Thaayar
and got rid of the Dosha. By the grace of tjos sthala perumal, Nammalvar was born
to Udaya Nangai. Thirumangai alwar got his Mukti in this sthalam. Mangalasasanam
was done by Thirumangai Alwar Periualwar, Thirumazhisai Alwar Nammalwar.
